Bison boils to death in Yellowstone hot spring in front of tourists

A bison was gruesomely boiled to death in a Yellowstone National Park hot spring last week — as tourists watched in horror.

The buffalo met its ghastly end when it apparently stumbled into the scalding water at Midway Geyser Basin near Old Faithful, according to the park service.

“There were two bison [standing] there,” said Louise Howard, who witnessed the bison’s death during her first-ever visit to Yellowstone, to CBS News.

“I thought it was a great photo opportunity.”

But the shutter-worthy sight quickly turned tragic when one of the bison stepped into a small part of the basin, then tried hopping out.

Within a matter of seconds, the beast began teetering at the edge of the Grand Prismatic Spring — the largest hot spring in the entire park — and then fell in.

“As hard as it tried, it couldn’t get out,” said Howard, who snapped pictures of the bison’s final moments.

Fortunately, the poor animal met its end “fairly quickly,” according to Michael Poland, the scientist-in-charge at Yellowstone Volcano Observatory.

The animal was thrashing around so intensely that it moved into an even hotter area of the Grand Prismatic, thus dying faster.

Poland dispelled rumors that the water was acidic and that that’s what killed the animal, instead pointing to its intensely high temperatures.

It’s a heartbreaking story. God never intended for these things to happen. Part of the fallen world we live in. Even Animals suffer. Very depressing.

God never intended for these things to happen.

Then why didn't He put a fence around the hot spring?

Actually, bison chili is on the menu @ Old Faithful Inn Dining Room. It is absolutely delicious!

Locally sourced, apparently!

I can tell you are a Bible scholar. Death is the result of sin. That is what I meant. Because of one man’s sin....death entered the world.

It’s better if you read the Bible before being stupid:

Romans 5 verses 12 and on:

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

No.
Tomorrow’s menu. “No bison chilly will be served today, in memory of the recent incident. Bison stew will be served at half-price out by the hot springs. Temember to bring your soup bowl with you.”

Did Laz bit it?

I always liked these bison in spite of their sometimes dangerous natures, & sad to see one of the poor creatures suffer this way.

I have been eating a fair bit of bison lately and my daughter in Colorado recently send me a jar of bison tallow she renders herself. If you get a chance to try it you should. Everything from beef steaks to turkey burgers taste great when cooked in it.

It’s heartbreaking. Such a beautiful animal one of God’s creatures. Some seem heartless though....I don’t get it. Thank you.

Thank you.

As an animal lover, I don’t find the jokes amusing.

Well, I’m not as ignorant about the Bible as you presume. On the other hand, I don’t “read into it” as people of many denominations prefer.

...I bet it smelled good...

Have you been to Yellowstone? ALL of those hot springs reek of sulfur and other lovely acrid things.

God never intended for these things to happen

In another situation I'm positive you'd say something like, "Well, it was God's will that it happened". The point I'm actually trying to make relates to how ill-prepared you really are to presume what God has intended. That is well beyond your pay grade.

Have you ever visited La Brea Tar Pits?
Tell all of those Dire Wolves and Sabre Toothed Tigers
that God did not intend for them to get stuck in the tar...
