A friend of mine told of her first visit to Yellowstone as a kid decades ago.
They were at a hot pool, when another family drove up, a little boy got out of the car, ran to the pool and jumped in.
Someone notified a ranger, no cell phones back then, and when they showed up with nets to pull the boy out piece by piece.

Probably saw all of the vacationing voyeurs and committed suicide.

As an animal lover a very sad story. A majestic beautiful bison. Sad.

Up there with getting eaten while still alive by grizz, or perhaps torn apart while alive by wolves.
Dying in bed in old age is usually not an option for them 4 legged critters.
