Squatters have been wreaking havoc in parts of Los Angeles, setting fires and even carrying out a random attack in a troubling rash of violence that has left residents frightened.

The chaos first cropped up in Beverly Grove after an abandoned apartment complex was recently taken over by a group of vagrants.

“It’s been absolutely terrifying. We are on hold with our lives right now until this is resolved,” Anita Cavallo, a woman who lives in the Beverly Grove area, told ABC7.

“Coming soon to a neighborhood near you, Gothamites.”

Won’t be anything new. You don’t know much about New York, do you? way back in the ‘80s is when this started. There was a big battle when Lower East Side anarchists (forerunners of Antifa) were driven out of several city-owned vacant buildings they had taken over.

Rule to live by: Never live in a place where your chances of arrest for defending your family and property are great and the jury is more likely to be comprised of individuals who hate you.

The bad voters in many parts of California outweigh good voters 3 to 1, making positive change impossible.

Any house can be hit, but actors have the added risk that they are away a lot when shooting on location. Then they are away again while doing the publicity tours that are part of the deal. And again when they travel for the red carpets, premiers, and staged events like the awards circuit shows.

And all of this is public knowledge for anyone who follows the industry. Going to be away for six months? Good luck.

Visibly empty is an invitation for trouble anywhere. Very few need or can afford full time live in staff. Or housesitters. Brad Pitt is an outlier.

For actors, there’s a lot to be said for gated communities and secure highrise apartments, and it’s not primarily a matter of snob appeal. Not all of these are lavish. Most actors aren’t rich and many are just scraping by. But they’re away a lot, and everyone knows it. Some surprising names pop up in “trailer parks” — which today are often manufactured mobile housing developments and which can be surprisingly upscale.

Places like the Point Dume Club (originally a 1960’s trailer park for second homes and vacation homes, converted into modular builds in the 70’s) and Paradise Cove in Malibu come into the news when the brushfires do their thing. They are small homes, tastefully put together if the owner has some sense of style, but they’re gated communities suitable for the traveling set.

This is one of many reasons why our wise founders added the Second Amendment to our Constitution.

Sometimes protection money bought you real protection.

What's the difference between the government and the mafia?

You get better protection for your protection payments to the mafia ...
