The old standard method of cures for illness was..
Bleed the patient.
Build fires around the house to drive off “Bad Air”.
Bleed the patient.
Check his horoscope to see if he was born under bad star alignments.
Bleed the patient.
See if he has enemies who might have put a “HEX” or curse on him.
Bleed the patient.
Has an “Evil Eye” been cast upon him?
Bleed the patient.
Run a tube up the rectum and pump in tobacco smoke.
Then declare “The operation was a success, but the patient died.”
