Euthanized animal statistics

For a deeper look behind these statistics, consider the full reports from the ASPCA, No Kill Advocacy Center, and Best Friends.org.

. On average, 1 million shelter animals are euthanized every year in the United States.
. Shelters around the country euthanize an estimated 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats each year.
. 45% of all cats who enter shelters are eventually euthanized. For feral cats, that number leaps up to nearly 100%.
. Roughly 2.7 million dogs and cats are killed each year because shelters are too full.

Euthanized animal statistics

of course they are.

they no longer have natural predators and breed like they are in the wild.

Cats can easily have 24 kittens in one year.

Dogs are not that far behind.

And of course these agencies bring dogs in from other countries to sell too. Big money in animals.

There’s only 3 kinds of dogs: pit bulls, chihuahuas and all other dogs. Pit bulls are bred far beyond their desirability as pets because they are used for dogfighting and attacking people. Chihuahuas just multiply. I am very much in favor of euthanizing pit bulls completely out of existence.

Euthanasia stats aren't exactly what you think they are. First there are many dogs imported from the third world as a kind of supply chain for adoption.
Second many shelters offer low price euthanasia services mostly for financially challenged people. Cats are a somewhat different story. It's summer which is cat season at animal shelters. Cats left outside and unneutered can have a lot if kittens over the summer.
