The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are reportedly receiving a 400% pay raise for the upcoming season, as revealed in their Netflix series "America's Sweethearts."

This "life-changing" increase comes after years of advocacy for higher compensation, so the cheerleaders didn't need to work two jobs.

Veterans are expected to earn around $75 per hour, significantly up from the previous $15 per hour.

I think it’s been considered ‘an honor’ to be a Cowboy cheerleader, they could get away with this exploitation. I think it’s long overdue with the amount of money that surrounds this famous squad.

significantly up from the previous $15 per hour.

They only made $15 per hour??? That's worse than working at McDonalds.

It was always a way to get noticed and to help your main career along. Or find “Mr. Right.”

In the 1970s–1980s, there was a “volunteer” ethos where cheerleaders were expected to perform for prestige rather than significant pay.

Some cheerleaders earned below minimum wage (e.g., $5/hour for Raiders cheerleaders), prompting lawsuits for wage theft and labor violations starting in 2014. These lawsuits, affecting 10 of 26 NFL teams with cheerleading squads by 2020, led to improved pay standards, with teams now advised to comply with federal and state minimum wage laws.

There is a big time commitment: 30–40 hours/week for practice and games. Most NFL cheerleaders have regular jobs in addition to their cheerleading duties. NFL cheerleading is generally part-time and pays relatively low wages—typically $75–$150 per game, $10–$16 per hour for practices, and $50–$75 for appearances, with exceptions like the Dallas Cowboys paying up to $500 per game. These earnings are rarely enough to live on, especially given the 30–40 hours per week required for practices, games, and events.

Some corporations are over funded, and have tons o cash to let fly out of the windows of a speeding car.
That’s what happens when there is little direct accountability.

I suspect it’s to pay them enough not to jump to LonelyFans or other porn sites after a short stint as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader.

I look at it a little differently.

Once upon a time the team was a Division/Superbowl contender nearly every year. Women would vie for a spot on the squad, for the prestige and the fame. Competition was tough. Money was nearly irrelevant...

Now the football team's not doing so good. Could it be they're having trouble attracting talent?

It was going to be “THe Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders on Gilligan’s Island” — I’m not sure what happened but it was changed to “The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island.”
