True, the site is now dominated by crippled, angry, old men, and fat, blue-haired old bitties whose nipples drag on the floor when they walk.

I am not a fan of these "Gen" labels, if only because it is too easy to pigeonhole people into those buckets. Sometimes quite unfairly. I see the Boomer-Get X or whatever as Leftist style constructs that divide people.

It is why I love Conservatism. It is inclusive and merit based. You don't need to be a particular age, sex, skin color, religion, or nationality.

If you believe in the tenets as set forth by our Founders, or as expressed by the likes of Thomas Sowell in his works, you get to be fully accepted into the club.

What you’re seeing are postings from Seminar Posters. Several posts utilizing almost identical writing styles decrying all the old “boomers” dominating the discussion on here. It’s like they have a script. Just ignore them and they’ll go away.

I would say it is the ad hominem attacks that are frequent and unnecessary adding nothing to any discussion of matters. On top of that are the not so thinly veiled and also unnecessary criticism and resentment, such as the one that began this thread, of just about any tribe or point of view that is not your own.

Recognition of this standard disappeared long long ago and FR has become a very uncivil and low brow place for words and ideas.

Never-the-less, FR is one of the better aggregators of news and sometime inside informtion by a few informed contributors notwithstanding how clunky the platform remains to be. Other fora I participate in are much more functional and never ask for a penny nor do they advertise.

The no profanity rule has slipped a bit, I've noticed, but at one time it was a little ridiculous, probably owing to some of those "old biddies". I got called out rather severely years ago for using the word "crap".

The no personal attacks rule hasn't been enforced since I've been here. If anything, it has improved somewhat, because we used to have certain boomer gangs that would call in their reinforcements if they had a disagreement with someone, and suddenly you'd have several people instead of one calling you an idiot and then virtually high-fiving each other, probably from their rascal scooters. We don't seem to have that anymore.

That said, I'll still make it a point to donate. I usually do $100 at a time.

Come on, everyone. Do you see what I did with this post? I insulted the thin-skinned, I used a little profanity to get your attention, I’ve united some of you against me. This post brought some of you out of the woodwork. That makes me happy.

You know what? United is better than divided. Across all generational labels! All backgrounds, all ages, all economic strata, all religions, all geographic areas, all races. United by the common cause of conservatism.

You know what else? I’m not a seminar-poster. I’m old, but not that old. I’m young, but not too young. I’m not rich and I’m not poor. I’m white, black, yellow, red, and brown. Does anyone care? I’m Christian. I could be Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Shinto or anything or everything. Would you hate me?

I’m a die-hard Southerner. I’m a Yankee. I’m from Texas, California, Georgia, Arizona, Oregon, Maryland, Washington D.C., Washington state, Louisiana, the Midwest, the Northeast, the Southeast, the Southwest. I’m American, by the grace of God!

I’m a Soldier. I’m a pacifist. I’m a Patriot. Do you know what I’m not? I’m not a leftist or a commie (same-same). That’s why I come here to Free Republic.

That’s why I feel this site is so important. It has been for a long, long, time. Great things have happened here. We are the news.
