A foolish tourist in Italy sat on a chair adorned with thousands of Swarovski crystals for a photo op, crushing the precious work of art beneath his weight.
Instead of lowering himself and pretending to sit for the photo — like the woman accompanying him had done — security video shows a man deciding to go for it and sit down. The chair crumbled under his weight, as he lost his balance, trying to hold on to the wall with both hands so he didn’t fall.
The woman came to his rescue, and the pair scurried out of the room.

The art piece by Italian artist Nicola Bolla was named the “Van Gogh” chair, as it resembles a chair in one of the legendary Dutch painter’s most famous pieces. The museum described it as an extremely delicate piece of work, entirely covered in crystals.

Good thing Felecia didn’t try that trick.
There are certain museums that serve as a safe, clean place to use up a little time, or perhaps a well known place to meet up with somebody. Some museum visitors may not want to sign a Visitor Logbook, at least not with their real name.
It’s okay, because he returned with a banana and duct tape to donate a multimillion work of art to the museum.
Yeah, because Europeans would have glued their butts to it while crying about oil or air or something.

I didn’t even see a “Do Not Sit On” warning sign. Kind of stupid to have it right out on the floor, and not inside a glass or plexiglass case, especially if it’s that delicate. I’m surprised nobody busted it before this.
Every fat person has a chair story!
Eh, tourists can be idiots, but I blame the museum here. They should not have placed it where it could be sat on.
They should have at least roped it off.
You’re a poet!
At least the fluffy cows provide instant feedback on the appropriateness of the tourists’ behavior
It’s a chair.
Somebody was going to sit in it sooner than later.
Lol!
The chair is against the wall.
Why did they bother to blur the faces of these idiots?!
A friend and I were visiting the Getty Museum in Malibu on its opening day for the public in 1974. We were in a room looking at various sculptures when there was a commotion on the other side of the room. I turned around and saw my friend kneeling on the floor holding a marble bust. My friend, being the goof off sort, made me think “what the Hell has he been up to now?”
As it turned out he was looking at the sculpture, which was mounted on a shelf, when a museum guard backed into it and knocked it off the shelf. My fiend caught it before it hit the floor. My friend received accolades from the crowd who witnessed his heroic act. To set the record straight he announced that he caught it because he didn’t want it to hit his foot.
True.
Sadly, though, it’s dumb stuff like this that gives us a bad name.
The sneakers and belly were a dead giveaway.
That is a great idea.
Make it quickly before someone steals it.
Tourists acted stupidly, but so did the museum by leaving this cheesy display so accessible.
I hope the museum didn’t pay much for this hunk of kitsch.
Make something idiot proof, nature will provide a better idiot.
