Vey true. While Lpa has been shown to increase the risk LDL and cholesterol in general have never been conclusively shown to be a risk factor for heart attacks. My wife had a heart attack in August, her cholesterol numbers, 179 total/70LDL, well below the AHA’s safe cholesterol levels. My mom on the other hand had a 300+ cholesterol number and lived to be 93. What lowering cholesterol does do, especially in the elderly, is increase the risk of dementia. Cholesterol is a large component of brain tissue.

it's the medications that lowers the LDL that increases the chance of dementia. LDL is essential for life and the building and re-building of our bodies. BigPharma said look what we made, now let's invent a "illness" this cures.
