Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.

Not enough information to remotely offer ideas.

Have you tried sprinkling it with holy water?

If it happens agains start up Task Manager and look at what is running and if there is anything that is unfamiliar to you.

My first suspicion would be a pop up ad.

Maybe it’s simply the fact that you post on this site?

It really depends on the features of the laptop.
Some shut off when you close the lid. Others just go into “sleep” mode, but are still on under the radar. Some music programs still play in sleep mode.
Could be any of these.

If you were using a program with that music, it is likely that part of the gram didn’t shut down. I find that happens on occasion. In that case, you’d have to enter task manager and shut it down manually.

Something else to check is if another device connected through bluetooth.

Yeah, they don’t put much effort into having them close correctly.

The Alexa app? There for a while she was playing music unprompted.
“Alexa, turn the music off.”
Alexa: “Make me.”

Honestly, some child program that was playing music (and keeping your notebook awake) got disassociated with its parent program - never heard the message to die - probably random cosmic ray hitting the right bit.
It’s just one of those things when a bunch of random programs are running does something that some other thing that no one ever envisioned.
