You sound like someone who doesn’t own Microsoft stock. Up almost 12% in the last 12 months. Up 147% in the last 5 years.

Apple up less than 5% in the last 12 months, up 145% in the last 5 years.

So it is all about the money? Screw the customers and their experience?

You can have their immoral dirty money. I care very little for people who have sold their souls to crooked MS business. I would never support them by buying their stock. I’ll live in a tent in a sandwash first...

It’s a backdoor for them at their convenience and a total surveillance of ALL your activities while using Windows. Does anyone feel like one of those human batteries in “The Matrix” yet? Because they’re definitely shooting for total dominance over your computing and online experience while trickling cash out of you for the privilege of being used.

Who has the best way to partition Linux into a drive that has Win10 already installed where no data is lost, so Windows programs are confined off-line and only Linux accesses the Net?

It's called capitalism. Remember, the company was built on lies and provided enough money to fund the Roman Catholic work of the founder's pro-abortion (now ex-) wife. At least unlike that crowd that looted GE, Microsoft has at least left some value for the stockholders.

And Microsoft can honestly say, "We aren't as evil as Google"

I missed my XP box. Best Microsoft operating system by for. The XP machine died. Win 7 is at least functional on a 12 year old machine.

I realize I didn't fully answer your question. No, it's not about the money. It's about spying on us on behalf of the deep state so that we can be controlled.

Here is what a standard default Linux installer will do for you.

1. It will give you the option to install “alongside” windows which is dual boot.
2. When it installs it will do all of the needed partitioning for you as part of the install. So no need for manual partitioning at all.
3. When it is done the Linux will be the primary default OS to autoload at power up.
4. There will be a menu at boot up to choose Windows instead if you like before the Linux autoloads.

Now if you would rather have MS load first as the primary then there is a small config edit that can change that order for you so MS autoloads as primary OS.

As always make a backup image in case. But I have never had the dual boot install option fail for me yet in at least 50 installs. It will install the linux over the MS slick as snot all by itself and will not touch any of the Windows files or data.

And here is the best part. When you boot into Linux you can still access your MS file folders from the MS volumes. So it is only a matter of copy & paste or drag and drop to move your important files or all of your files from the MS volumes to the corresponding Linux folders. Documents, pictures, videos, Etc...

Just keep in mind your total drive storage capacity because you will be making doubles of those files and taking up more room with those because they will be in two file systems now. :)

“Windows programs are confined off-line and only Linux accesses the Net?”

The Liux will be the OS to autoload and get online with. The windows will be the secondary option from the boot (grub) menu and it will remain off line unless you boot into it and put it online.

Now you may have to make some settings in the Windows so that it DOES NOT automatically try to get online by itself when you boot into it.

“It’s called capitalism.”

Let me educate you on something important. What these mega corporations practice is not Capitalism. It is “Corporatism” and Corporatism is nothing at all like free market Capitalism. Corporatism is straight up fascism...

Some of us are scr@#%&d because our company employer insists on real name MS accounts.
I like LinuxMint for home.
Websites that only work if latest MS is detected are a problem.

I use Mint too. :)

“Websites that only work if latest MS is detected are a problem.”

Then I don’t use them, screw them...

And if it was something important like banking I would take my money out just because of that alone. But I don’t do online banking anyhow... :)

I know this sounds crazy, and not on point to what you posted:

My Questions, do I own the phone lines (or does Microsoft) that come into my house?

Do I own the router that I use for my monthly proscription $$$ internet connection (or does Microsoft?)

Do I own my Laptop that I use (purchased with my money $$$) (or does Microsoft?)

Maybe someone with more brains than me, can explain how Microsoft, can steal via thief of services, both my telephone services and my proscription $$$ internet connection.

Just how in the world by purchasing a Laptop did I waive / give Microsoft rights / access to my Laptop? Put another way why is it not deemed that Microsoft is doing / committing COMPUTER TRESSPASS!

You can find all the Windows Ping list threads with FR search: just search on keyword "windowspinglist".

Thanks to MikelTackNailer for the ping!

Backup images are always a good idea....

You end up with exact copies of points in time and can return to them if desired.

You can also use some simple code to compare everything in one image to another image... the differences are sometimes interesting.
