Since airline profit depends on fuel consumption, and more weight increases that cost, I propose that airlines charge by weight for a person plus baggage. Lighter people could get more weight in their checked baggage. Heavier people would need to pay more, because it costs more to transport them. That’s just simple logic. It’s the same with the seat size. If someone is too big to sit in a seat, they need to pay more for a larger seat so as not to invade the space of the person next to him/her. That’s about respecting other’s personal space, which somehow doesn’t matter anymore. If the airlines could sell tickets for standing the entire flight, they would. Government re-regulation of the airlines is needed along with some basic common sense.
If I ship a package via Post Office, FedEx, UPS, DHL or any shipping company, they charge me by weight.
Airlines should do the same. Weigh-in at Check-in..............
