Google is launching AI Mode, a new AI-powered search feature for US-based users. After a short testing period in its Labs environment, the feature will be rolling out for everyone in the coming weeks via a new Search tab and the Google app.
The company describes AI Mode as its “most powerful AI search, with more advanced reasoning and multimodality, and the ability to go deeper through follow-up questions and helpful links to the web.”
New features of AI Mode include Deep Search with longer-than-usual, report-style responses, Search Live, which enables users to talk with Search about what they see in real-time using their camera, and complex analysis and data visualization. AI Mode also connects with other Google apps for more personal context and AI-assisted shopping with try-on and Agentic checkout features.

Good info. There will come a time soon though when they will remove that option...
Ai is very useful i use it often (writing a book, it he,ps with research, creates outlines for scenes, helps create dialogue with accents im unfamiliar with etc
Im not agaisnt ai, but there is huge potentisl for it to be used for nefsrious purposes too (and i think will play a heavy role in the end times)
For now i will s8mpky use,it to help, but i think there is gonna be massive advancements, and some not for the good of mankind- very rapidly- the billionairs glee about rapid mrna vaccines when pres trump introduced them on stage sith h8m. Talking about investing in ai, was really creepy- and they couched their explanations in “oh, we’re doing this for the benefit of mankind”... yeah sure they are
IF they can study things like viruses using ai, and not needing to study the actusl viruses physically, that would eleim8nate the dsngers associated with working with viruses physically- but not sure that can be accom0lished or not.
Any more I find Google to be a waste of time.
Bad Agentic AI, bad! You should not have ordered that 2025 McLaren 750S and had it delivered to my driveway. Shame on you. Just wait until Mrs. POF finds out about this!
"Honey, Google Agentic AI did this! Honest!"
All of this stuff is designed and produced by Indian citizens.
The code examples generated by AI on Edge should be regarded as suggestions not as authoritative. I suspect that would be the same as on Google.
I very much like your quote on your FR Profile page:
Grace is God giving us something we do not deserve.Mercy is God not giving us something we do deserve.
And this is but one reason why my nonfiction books are SO important; they contain facts that can't be changed, unlike what asking an AI search engine will spit out and easily changed to whatever propaganda is the current rage.
What you said is not true and factual. Ai makes suggestions, i either go with the suggestion , expand it myself, or use the suggestion to create a whole, different line beczuse the suggestion sparks an idea.
Your bias is noted. The fact is that Writers use other writers to bounce ideas off zll ths time - and to ask for inout and suggestuins. Are you suggesting thay they not writers then either? There are groups of readers who are hired by writers who are trained to discover holes in stories, passages that don’t work, etc. They make suggestions, suggest changes, edit, and so on and so forth. Book clubs where writers get their, ideas and suggestions from. Its no different asking ai than it is as,ing someone else- the VAST MAJORITY of the book is written by me, as is all the hard work of editing, rewriting, etc etc etc. Comes from MY imagination, not ai’s-
If you state (inocorrectly i might add) that asking ai to suggest a change here and there in a lassage thay isnt work8ng makes the “ai the writer” then you must zlso condemn every last writer who has reached out to clubs, editors (who also suggest chsges and help, writers)
Apparently they “aren’t writers” either?
Have editors made suggestions, in times past? Yes, they did, but NOT the way you are suggesting.
Perhaps, as you claim, I am just not "with it"/wrong; however, it's my opinion!
People used their own imagination, were influenced by their times, what they knew as a jumping off point, and produced great lit!
Would AI have made these authors' works "better"? I greatly doubt it.
You are kidding, yourself if you think, thay great writers zlways do all the writing themselves with no help from others. Hemmingway used collaborstors, relied on editors to help write his books, as did many other famous writers.
Evidence suggests that Shakespeare collaborated with other playwrights, particularly in his later works. For example, “Henry VIII” and “The Two Noble Kinsmen” are believed to have been co-written.
Use of Source Material
Shakespeare often adapted existing stories and historical accounts, drawing from various sources, including classical texts and contemporary works. This practice was common among playwrights of his time.
The Role of Actors and Patrons
Actors and patrons may have influenced his writing, providing feedback or suggesting changes to make plays more appealing to audiences
Many authors, including Hemingway, often received assistance in their writing.
Editorial Support
Hemingway worked with editors who provided feedback and guidance on his manuscripts. Notable editors included Maxwell Perkins at Scribner’s, who played a significant role in shaping his work.
Collaborations
While Hemingway is primarily known for his individual writing, he collaborated with other writers and artists, which influenced his style and themes.
Research Assistance
For some of his works, Hemingway relied on research and firsthand accounts, particularly for his war-related stories and his experiences in different cultures.
Influence of Peers
The literary community of his time, including contemporaries like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Gertrude Stein, also impacted his writing through shared ideas and critiques.
Guess we can say he and a great many other ffamous writers like them didnt write their books too then?
[[ Great writers, such as Thackary, Dickens, Wilkie Collins, Mark Twain, Jack Finney, Hemmingway, Fitzgerald, Orwell, Huxley, Harlan Ellison, and on and on and on....didn’t hold “BULL SESSIONS” with other writers, nor ask the reading public ( book clubs ) for suggestions]]
You absolutdly sure about that huh?
Dickens:
Influence of Other Writers
Dickens was influenced by contemporaries and often engaged in discussions with other authors, which shaped his writing style and themes.
Personal Writing Style
Despite assistance, Dickens maintained a distinctive voice and style, ensuring that his works remained uniquely his own.
Mark,twain;
Collaborators and Influences
Twain collaborated with several individuals, including his friend and fellow writer William Dean Howells.
He also received assistance from his wife, Olivia Langdon, who provided editorial support and feedback on his manuscripts.
Ghostwriters and Assistants
There are claims that Twain employed ghostwriters for certain projects, although specific instances are not well-documented.
He had various assistants throughout his career who helped with research and correspondence.
Its late, shall i go on?
But pardon me...I had assumed that the discussion was solely about a fiction novel/s.
But since you need help, at least you are getting some from a source that you find valuable.
Thackeray
family and friends often acted as sounding boards for ideas. Thackeray’s social circle, which included other writers and intellectuals, may have influenced his thoughts and approach to writing
While Thackeray was very much the sole author of his works in terms of prose, the collaborative nature of publishing in the Victorian era meant that many hands contributed indirectly to bringing his stories to readers.
COllins collaborated, with dickens on works- you are mistsken that “the greats” didnt “have help” or “didn’t have bull sesssions”, because they did- not all writers, some were strictly solo no doubt, but more worked with editors, friends, fsmily, colleagues etc.
I think you will find that great many of the greats “needed help” as you put it. They needed friends, fsmily, to make suggestions, give, advice, help edit, etc. Writing, as you know, is very time consuming hard work, expecizlly in fiction with many chsracters to ,eep track of, locstions, descriptions of characters and locstions all need to be kept straight throughout the book. Its not unusual to have several drafts and discover holes, or have others with fresh eyes discover holes that you missed, dates that dont line up, characters that seem off for, some reason etc. That is shere the hrlp, from others comes in handy.
I,forget who the, writer was now, but they would submit their work, and it would be so,sloppy and disjointed that editors practically had to rewrite the book in krder for it to make sense, amd be pubbishable. His work thougn was in high demand, but his editors complained over and over about his manuscripts and the work it caused them.
Ill see if i csn find thst author tomorrow- its 2.30 am now, time for shuteye
Dickens wrote many of his books prior to his friendship with Wilkie.
And looking things up and then reposting what you found, as a refutation of what I have written, strikes me as somewhat pathetic and funny. WHY? Because what I have written is from what I know; some from many different books that I have read, while other things because I just KNOW them, a la the Broadway plays I listed, for one valid, sometimes obvious reason or another.
I sort of imagined, that my last post, with a bit of capitulation on what you are doing, would end the "fight", but sadly it didn't, as your bruised feelings are over riding good common sense. Pity that.....
Not bruised, just pointing out that famous writers were not commonly lone rangers- even they needed and sought help.
[[strikes me as somewhat pathetic and funny]]
No,need for lersonal insults- ypu admit that you went to sources to learn ehztmyoumhavs learned, thrn turn around and call someone who went to a source “pathetic”? Glass houses and all that.
[[, as your bruised feelings are over riding good common sense. Pity that.....]]
More insults- swell. How is it “overriding common sense” when i showed that what you originally said wasnt factual?
