Great article! Writing is superb.
I kinda knew who it was. Not many alive these days at 95.

Good story, good read.
What these men accomplished to stay alive is truly incredible.

To me, Clint Eastwood will always be Rowdy Yates.

Ironically the wife and I were watching an Eastwood movie last night.
Got curious and looked it up.
We were shocked to discover he’s 95.
It seems like only yesterday he was mocking obama as an empty suit at the RNC.
BTW, the movie we were watching was The Gauntlet......and Sondra Locke’s acting (RIP).... hasn’t improved.

I showed the kids the clip where Loretta the diner waitress pours a cup of sugar into Harry Callaghan’s coffee cup while he’s looking at the paper. The sidewalk spit out then the explanation to the hostage takers that Harry’s hates sugar
And the mid-lunch, annoyed walk across the street, hot dog in one hand, giant pistol in the other
Now they love him
Maybe we’ll see a spaghetti western today
“BTW, the movie we were watching was The Gauntlet......and Sondra Locke’s acting (RIP).... hasn’t improved.”
Oy first movie I ever walked out of.

It’s a heck of a story. I have enjoyed most of Eastwood’s films, and he has only gotten better as a director as he has aged. But I’m also reminded of what a former colleague said of him: if they ever held a reunion for all the people Clint has screwed over in this business, it would have to be held in the LA Colosseum.

watching was The Gauntlet......and Sondra Locke’s acting (RIP).... hasn’t improved. Lol! As a teen, I had a dear (late) buddy who was like an older brother to me. He was a new Hollywood actor and gay, who had a great sense of humor. He would mock the femmy homosexuals in Hollywood, and also knew Sondra Locke - who he had an hilarious impersonation of due to her horrible acting. He'd randomly go into it "Hellllloooo Billy, dahhhling, I'm sonnnnnndra Locke. Let's go get a gelaaaaahto..." 🤪

My favorite Clint Eastwood movie is “Pale Rider”.
A young girl prays for help for her family, a man of questionable character is given a chance to redeem himself.

The bus scene at the end of the movie was filmed in Phoenix,AZ. My cousin was down there with his 35 mil camera walking around. Standing at an intersection was Clint Eastwood with a few other guys. My cousin said: "Mr. Eastwood can I take your picture?" Eastwood's aid said no,however Clint spoke up and said: "It's okay,I don't mind. Let him take the picture." Then my cousin asked him were they took the bus that was all shot up. Eastwood told him he doesn't know somebody else takes care of that stuff. All in all my cousin said he was a friendly guy toward him.
