That’s some hot information, but, it’s really cool. ;-)

I could sure go for 10 degree cooler afternoons, that is for sure. But, I am thinking of using a big ol’ black lidded pot to put (up to ~ 8”) old plant pots in: Set it in the full sun (plus reflection from the white wall) on the west face of my shop building. The contents should get really hot; plenty to sterilize the soil. The idea being to then mix it with new potting soil to re-introduce “good” microbes.

I’ve measured a black dash in a car at right at 200 deg. F, and I’ve seen rear deck ABS (claimed) plastic speaker grills badly deform in direct sun, and this isn’t even the US desert SW.

Just came in from the garden because the top of my head said it was time. It's only 86 but with 84% humidity, the heat index is 102 and evidently, that's in the shade. Learn something new everyday. At least my walk back to the house is mostly shade. Not feeling ill or anything, it was just time to get out of the sun. Wish my autistic would understand that. He stays out there until he's close to passing out.

I'll head out this afternoon real quick to see what soil temp is under the new mulch. Other than that, it's shade or indoors. Same tomorrow. I do want to pull the remaining weeds and grass. Got an area about 5' x 12' left at the bottom end. Can get out there at 6am and get er done.

Re-sowed some bean/cuke seeds this morning before the 8am drip session. Didn't bother with more watermelon because three did sprout and three melon vines is plenty for a small tunnel. Gonna send the vines down to the area I'm weeding tomorrow and it will get mulched before the vines reach that far.
