They will grow lots of fine roots, so well drained soil and fertilize. We use compost.

Two of these are in my regular soil with some amendments, and two are in large planters with organic potting mix. I try a variety of things when I’m new to it, to see if anything works. I have fertilized twice, about 10 days apart. There’s been plenty of rain, but with a little time to dry somewhat in between.
