Boston/RI area - extreme heat warning 11 AM Sunday TO 8 PM EDT Tuesday. We’re already making plans how to survive since we know our A/C isn’t the greatest.
Once it hits, we’ll be shutting down most of the library computers and switching to the little computer in the dining room. Husband is planning to do needed computer maintenance and call this Opportunity.
I’ve got the outdoor animal food stocked and need to find something heavy enough to put water in that won’t be continuously knocked over by the outdoor animals. The bigger ones tend to like to climb into the water dish and that does it for all the others.
We still need to restock our own fresh food - fruit, veggies, etc. - before it gets too hot to go outside.
Absolutely awestruck by your farming plans. You guys need to be appreciated as much as we always remember our military. Keep hydrated!
In this kind of heat, we close all the indoor shades, curtains, and blinds.
Since our house sees full sun almost all day, that makes a big difference in how hot the house gets.
We do have AC but at those temperatures, it’s hard pressed to keep up.
Just curious: when you say ‘outside animals’ that lay down in a water pan, what are you raising?
I used to give my Lab her own Kiddie Pool in the summer months. She loved it.
Thanks for the compliment. I’m a Vet and a Gardener, so I’m covered, LOL!
I’ve got fans going as well as the A/C. Right now it’s 88 degrees and the wind is really brisk - but it feels more like a Santa Anna wind, so not much relief. I got all my outside chores, mowing and making sure everyone had water with 10 minutes to spare! On to indoor tasks for the rest of the day. :)
