NP, recipe courtesy of the Marlboro Cookbook. The wife of a buddy of mine gave it to me years ago. Lots of flavorful and rustic recipes a la Marlboro man on the trail as pictured in ads back then. Flavorful because smokers’ taste buds are on the weak side.

Recipe calls for a ziploc bag with corner cut off in place of a pastry or cake decorating bag. Doesn’t give that fancy star shape but beats a spoon for neatness.

I used the zip lock bag method before going to the pastry bag/tip.

One of my dearest friends (now deceased) I used to hike with peppered his food heavily & to the extent that sitting across from him at a meal, it would get me to sneezing. He was a HEAVY smoker, especially when in the Navy. After he got out, he was overweight, in poor shape, feeling so awful it scared him. With 20-20 hindsight, he probably had a heart attack & in his 60’s, some test indicated he’d had a mild one years before. He quit smoking, started walking everywhere, lost weight to the point he was almost skinny & began hiking/backpacking every weekend. Over a couple of years, I figure I hiked about 1,500 miles with him. He died on a trail (long story).

Thanks for the recipe source info. There are 2 “Marlboro Country” cookbooks on Amazon ... ‘used’ prices are reasonable. The books get good reviews .... I’m tempted!

Our new house is great for company, old house was not. Mom is making up for lost years & inviting family & friends. The way it’s going, I might have to add “Bed & Breskfast” to what we’ve named the place. Since I have to do all the cooking, I am in constant search for great recipes.
