June Is Bustin' Out All Over" from RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CAROUSEL (Official Lyric Video)
Of course, I’m thinking flowers, gardens, etc. “bustin’ out all over” ….. I looked up the written lyrics and was surprised: some of the lyrics are surprisingly “frisky”! :-)
I LOVE Musicals. I can only think of one that I don’t like and that’s ‘Phantom.’ And I have no interest in seeing ‘Hamilton.’ I can sing you the entire score of ‘Oklahoma!’ if you’d like. I watch ‘1776’ every 4th of July. I think we did that play 4 times as I was growing up. ‘For God’s sake John! Sit down!’ “He plays the violin; he tucks it right under his chin...’
I also know the score to, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ another perennial favorite. ‘But of all God’s miracles large and small, the most miraculous one of all is the one I thought could never be...God has given you to me!’
‘Carousel!’ I’ve had a Girl Crush on Shirley Jones my entire LIFE! Best. Duet. Ever. EVER!
‘If I loved you,
Time and again I would try to say
All I’d want you to know.
If I loved you,
Words wouldn’t come in an easy way
Round in circles I’d go!’
I wonder what the Rodgers and Hammerstein Estate is worth?
I grew up in a ‘Theater Family.’ Dad built sets, Mom did costuming. I was usually Stage Crew or an Usher so I got to see the plays for FREE, or chained to a sewing machine in the back hall, helping Mom with the, ‘emergency repairs.’
I was in one play - I was a Turtle, LOL! My Sister was one of the Urchins in ‘Oliver!’ and our family dog - who looked like a fox to begin with - got a haircut and makeup and Ginger was the Fox that Auntie Mame saves from the Hounds.
There was NO living with Ginger after she had her Big Break. What a DIVA, LOL!
