Sounds like a billion dollar game of pharmaceutical wack-a-mole.

Question: Should we inject experimental substances into human subjects in the hope that maybe the "variant" it is for is still around and that it actually works, unlike the COVID-1984 experimental substance?

Isn't that the way it works with the annual conventional (made with weakened/dead flu virus strains) flu shots? Seems I read somewhere that those vaccines only have ~40% success because the different strains are constantly mutating.
