I’m confident that the cop who was responsible for leaving Baxter in the vehicle will be treated exactly as any of us would be treated had we done so. Ahem.

I hope he was not a “comfort dog,” in the same sense Japanese soldiers kept Korean “comfort girls.”

Whoever that “responsible officer” is, their new name will be MUD for the foreseeable future, at least within that city.

The results of the “official” investigation will say “mistakes were made” and training materials have been updated.

Whoever came up with the term “comfort dog” must not be familiar with a similarly named program run by the Japanese Army during WWII.

If the day had a high temp of 83, and the ac was working when the dog was left alone in the vehicle (with the inside temp was in the 70’s), HOW LONG was this poor dog left in the car with no one noticing? Seems to me it would take a long time to move the interior temp up enough to kill the dog, even considering the greenhouse effect.

Unless independent witnesses corroborate that the vehicle and/or its ac were left on, I think both were off the whole time, and the dog was killed by gross neglect or intent. Sorry bastard who did it is lying.

The DPS said the vehicle unexpectedly stopped running

So the car was purposely left running unattended? Neat way to help car thieves.

Sorry, not buying it. Just how long was the dog left in the car before found. 83 degrees won’t kill the dog in 15 minutes.

Why leave a dog in a running car for more than a short time. My dad used to take his dog out when he went shopping and leave her in the running car with A/C on. He never left her for more than 30 minutes either.

Why couldn’t the policeman just take the dog with him while he called for help?
