The thinking of the founders towards women was likely something like: “If you feel strongly about something, convince your husband to vote that way”, with the thinking that the husband (and they all had husbands back then) would make a logical assessment as to whether those poor Third World people arriving in thousands of boats, funded by NGOs and USAID, was a good thing for America...and then vote appropriately.
