Updated 9:13 PM EDT, Tue May 27, 2025 SpaceX lost contact with Starship while conducting its ninth uncrewed test flight of the launch system, the most powerful ever constructed. The spacecraft likely broke apart over the Indian Ocean after losing control upon reentry to Earth.

• The company reused one of its Super Heavy rocket boosters for the first time after successfully recapturing the 60-story-tall vehicle on a prior test.
