😆 yep, can’t take the risk.
I had lasik a little over a decade ago. Everything we t well and I am so glad I had it done.
>> I had an expensive surgeon. I think some of the problems may come from using the cheap “Discount - $1,000 per eye!” clinics that sprang up like mushrooms in the 2000’s.
I haven’t had Lasik nor do I plan to, but I think you have hit the nail on the head with ytur comment. As it became more popular (and therefore the demand for practitioners increased), it stands to reason that less-skilled practitioners and reliance on automation techniques would lead to an increase in poor outcomes.
That said, I don’t know of anyone who has had Lasik who experienced what I would call a “bad” outcome. Most of those I know who have had it sing its praises.
Different procedures these days too. We had the blade cut kind. Not many do that anymore.
That's the truth. I've definitely gained more over the years. But yes ... in fact ... I did get one after the procedure.
A co-worker had cloudiness. Wouldn’t have done it.
My vision is around 20/2000. Way too large for Lasik.
Same here, had LASIK years ago and thank God, no problems. Best thing I ever did, as I was blind as a bat beforehand and couldn’t tolerate contact lenses. It was either LASIK or Coke-bottle glasses.
About 20 years ago I had multifocal IOLs implanted in my eyes that completely eliminated the need for glasses. I can read tiny print as well see any distance clearly.
Having severe astigmatism and wearing glasses since I was four years old, they totally changed my life. For a year afterwards, the first thing I would do when I got up in the morning was reach for my glasses..which of course weren't there. LOL!
As a side note, it was elective surgery so I had to fork over the $7,000.........Best decision I have ever made.
I had lasik done in 1999 and my vision went from 20/120 in both eyes to 20/15 in both eyes.
Ted Williams had 20/15 vision and it was said that he could see the stitches on an incoming fast ball.
My vision stayed at 20/15 until 2 years ago when I developed cataracts which blurred my distance vision.
I had lens replacement in both eyes and I am now back to 20/15 vision and I'm in my 80s.
My great experience with lasik convinced my daughter in law, that had worn "coke bottle lens" glasses for her 20/400 vision {almost blind without her glasses} to get lasik and she thanks me every time I see her. Her vision only went to 20/20 but that is super for some one that had such poor vision before surgery.
It's not really surgery, the laser procedure only lasted 29 seconds on each eye, performed a week apart, and it was without any pain and you are awake with no drugs.
I did smell burning flesh {which I was warned about prior to the procedure} but I had no bad side effects.
Maybe I was just lucky, but I swear by it.
This is the second negative article in a week on Lasik- about which up to now I have never heard any complaints - so I get the impression this is some lawyers’ PR team trying to gin up controversy with an eye towards exploitation by litigation.
Always wanted to have the procedure done but never had the money.
Exactly my story. 20/400 vision until cataracts when I was 65. Going home after surgery on the first eye, no glasses, I could see leaves on trees instead of one big blob.
About 10 years later I started to used glasses again, for reading. Distance is fine though.
I inquired about lasik back in the ‘80s and Doctor said absolutely not.
I wonder about the dates of the procedures for these people with adverse reactions
I will wonder about all this stuff if it happened in conjunction with or after the jab.
Just say’n
My wife had LASIK nearly twenty years ago without problems. However, her eye surgeon, Dr Vance Thompson, was one of the top in the country and one of the first 50 eye surgeons approved to do the procedure. Dr. Thompson rigorously screened his patients and only performed the procedure on those he expected optimal results. Our sister in law had LASIK performed by one of those LASIK centers in a strip mall and did not have very good results. Choose your eye surgeon wisely.
I thought I needed LASIK until someone pointed out it was just a bandana over my eyes.
It makes you want to have a Pepsi....just one Pepsi!
I had lasik in 2001 and Ive had zero problems.
I was legally blind without coke bottle glasses. Lasik took me to 20/20 in one eye, 20/15 in other (maybe 15/20). But, my reading vision was not so good in the right eye. Doc said he over compensated on purpose to compensate for old age. So he said. Overall, I’d do it again if need be. It’s been a life changer.
Many coworkers got it too. Over a short period, our insurance paid 100%. A few had issues but nothing compared to these stories coming out now. For a procedure that’s been around 20 or so yrs, these problems would have been highlighted for a long time. I’m kinda skeptical.
