What did they finally pass? Removal or just reduction in tax?
What passed this morning appears to have them removed from NFA regulation. The cynic in me thinks that there is no way that the senate will go for that, but I’m not going to blackpill myself in advance.
Of course, I, like most at FR would prefer that the NFA itself be yeeted, but i’ll take any progress as a “win” at this point.
Still trying to find the section on SBR’s, I don’t think that made it in this round, but I’ll keep looking.
From a political negotiation standpoint, IMHO, the smart move would be:
Pass a ‘strong’ bill in the house — remove SBR’s and suppressors from the NFA entirely.
Then when the horse-trading starts, try to get as much as possible on both items.
From the base, we need to keep the pressure on. If we (let me dream here) get suppressors removed, we say “thanks”, but you need to act on SBR’s. If we were to get both, we say “thanks, now repeal the NFA in its entirety”. The left never stops, we need to take a page from their book and keep the pressure up!
Molon Labe!
I’m not 100 clear on it, but from what I’d seen from Jared over at Guns & Gadgets it sounds like the removal from the NFA, which I’ll take. Reducing the stamp cost and keeping the registry is unacceptable.
And, direct thread for pistols and rimfire. QD for rifles in the same caliber.
