Gaza is a mess. There is practically no future there for the majority of people. They didn’t have much of a future even before the war. Israel is in a no win situation diplomatically. If they leave Gaza alone, as they did since 2005, Hamas prepares for war by building their war infrastructure under the civilian population. The money foreign countries give for aid gets diverted to finance Hamas, while Israel supplies them with almost all utilities, fresh water, tax collection and remittance… heck Gaza even uses Israeli currency. The previous status quo and the current situation on the ground is not tolerable for Gazans or for Israel. And Israel gets blamed for whatever it does anyway - even before the war Gaza was called a prison. The only solution is for full Israeli occupation of Gaza and to shut Hamas out of Gaza affairs. They should slice Gaza into 5 sectors. Checkpoints if you want to cross from sector to sector. Israel should handle food and medicine distribution in each of the 5 sectors until they get local partners they can trust. They need to control everything that goes in and out, and blow up all the tunnels, confiscate all the weapons until they can recruit a civilian police force. Palestinians have not declared themselves independent anyway so their status as a people/nation is irrelevant- Israel occupies it and has responsibility for it either way, so they have to go full hands on until a new managing partner comes along. If Trump wants to offer frozen Libyan funds to people who may want to leave Gaza, so be it. The bottom half of people in Gaza make less than $1000 a year and have no opportunity to build a life. There is no room to grow an economy for the bottom half. They are totally dependent on foreigners. Even if they had a state, the Gazans won’t be moving to Ramallah (LOL, the West Bank Arabs won’t want Gazans or Palestinians from Lebanon to move to the West Bank). Libya is so far the best solution thus far proposed. Libya has lots of land but not a lot of people. So there is an opportunity to build up Libya and create opportunities for everyone. Hell, the UK should consider sending some of its illegal migrants there too. Cheaper to pay for them to go to Libya than put them on the dole in the UK.

Not exactly. For sure the Jews had skirmishes with the British in the decades before 1948. A lot of it has to do with them wanting the Brits to leave. The Arabs also clashed with the British. And the Arabs and Jews had street battles with each other too, before 1948. And the British were technically tasked with protecting both people. So the Brits finally had enough, “recommended” a division of the land, and left. The Jews accepted the division, the Arabs uniformly rejected it. Foreign Arab armies invaded. So the independence war was fought against the Arab armies.
Jordan took land as did Egypt - for themselves not for some Palestinian state dream. Until 1967 there was basically no Palestinian movement. It sprung up after Israel liberated the lands from Egypt and Jordan in 1967. It was supported by the Arab countries precisely for what it does now - to be a proxy war against Israel without them having to actually fight. Clinton negotiated about 99% of the land mass plus $30 billion in aid if Arafat would take the deal. He rejected it and went to war. Blew up buses and discos and cafes and pizzerias. There is just no way anyone can reasonably side with the Palestinians in the war. You can feel bad for regular people, but they have always had the worse leadership with the worst motives and just look at what Hamas did with all the foreign aid and goodwill - they built a war machine right under their civilian population. It’s morally indefensible. It sucks for the people who want nothing to do with it. But there is little else Israel can do. “Surrender” or “pulling out” is not even a realistic option. Someone has to be in charge there and only Israel can do it while guaranteeing their own security needs. Hence my post above. Divide Gaza up into sectors and isolate the people. Deliver food and medicine to each sector. Do not let people cross sectors without checking them first. This is their right to do as an occupying force to maintain order. Gaza is not and never was an independent state actor.
Well no wonder. Just about every country that Britain colonized was worse off after they left than they were when they took them over.

Nowadays, the Ukraine scenario has gotten sort of stale, and the “coalition of the willing” didn’t prove to be popular, so the governors are going after the Jews once more.
