Rand is vulnerable and rightly so. He pissed off MAGA. He may go down in the primary.
Let’s see in a few years ... ?
And McCain was a GOP nominee nearly twice
Don’t you realize MAGA has moved light years beyond McCain/Ryan? Do you believe those Republican types will once again be the standard of the Party?
So will that be Randy Dandy’s campaign slogan: “Better than McCain”?
Has he ever been in a position to veto a spending bill?
Yeah. Then Trump exposed him. And the rest of the frauds in the GOP...
What he meant to say is, “I’m not afraid to make the tough decisions, even if it means helping the democrats.”
Sometimes in this situation, you are wrong, and should defer to those who are better informed and smarter.
To be perfectly honest, I think a significant part of Trump's agenda is to do what Democrat politicians have done for a very long time, and that is to essentially buy support with massive deficit spending. Many of his supporters oppose any Republicans who want fiscal restraint because that will stand in the way of Trump buying that support.
Essentially, they're saying "The rest of Trump's agenda is so important that if he has to buy political support with massive deficit spending, that's okay."
The problem is that is the exact same logic that has gotten the country in this mess it is in today. Politicians of both parties are all too willing to ignore the deficit because tackling it comes with a political cost. And every single one of them believes the rest of their agenda is too important to pay that political cost. So, they keep expecting us into oblivion to ensure that they have a political support they need.
We were told during the election that Trump had to make some of these populist proposals because he had to get elected, but once he got elected, he'd show more fiscal restraint. That apparently was a load of crap.
For those who ask why Rand Paul and some of these conservative Republicans didn't stand up to Democrats like this, the answer is that they actually did. They just got out voted. Well, they're making their stand again. Trump wants their votes, then maybe he should reduce some of the spending proposals.
What he apparently doesn’t understand is that the GOP base is filled with white people on welfare, and his message is only going to resonate with about 20% of the party’s voters.
Kentucky is a somewhat purple Red state. Democrat governor with a strong woke contingent.
Prayers for its Senate seats and next gubernatorial election.
Rand isn’t afraid to grandstand even if it means derailing what the base of the party wants.
Good, next election, hopefully, you get primaried and you can stand alone all you want...
He’s just missing the part about legislatures being team sports—and to be effective, a legislator has to be persuasive and win his peers over.
He’s a useless pomposs $hit who thinks he is special and the rest of us can go rot so he can be the maverick...
There are other ways of phrasing that. McCain was the RINO pick. They were happy to have him lose because the minority party gets richer cutting deals. No a position I would aspire to.
Does that make him a dingbat?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Well Rand, you are to do what voters in your state advise you to do. It’s not about what you want. If both are the same, then stand alone.
