I have always felt the same way, but a young lady I know explained it to me. They are trying to attract the kind of male that finds tats attractive, not the likes of me. I can live with that at my age.

I recently read something about how the liver is affected by tattoos. The metals in the ink and the other things are very taxing to it.

Tattoos can work for some alpha males, which is what drives the whole thing, but for most people they are warning labels for drug use, STDs, mental illness, jail birds, and extremely bad decision makers. There are exceptions, but in general, keep your distance.

This week it leapt to mind to inquire about the history of tatoos in view of their recent proliferation.

I have an opinion about them that will not be popular. Same goes for body piercings.

I totally agree. I scratch my head (figuratively) and ask, “Why did you disgrace what God gave you?”

Now, publicly I am more forgiving, which is to say I don’t denounce or pronouce about it. But inside it’s churning: WTF?

To each one’s own, I guess. I don’t have any tattoos, but a couple of my friends and a couple of close family members do.

I’ve never had any desire to have one.
