Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple is just now noticing that MSNBC is completely unbalanced in its news coverage and features no pro-Trump voices. He deserves a participation trophy for this.

Anyone who pays even the slightest bit of attention to media knows that MSNBC has become a 24 hour one-stop-shop for hatred of all things Trump. It has been this way for years.

For all of the justified criticism of CNN, they at least have Scott Jennings. FOX News has plenty of pro-Trump voices, but they also have Trump critics on their network all the time.

MSNBC plays a game with this. They have on anti-Trump Republicans, then turn around and claim that they listen to both sides.

Even MSNBC’s viewers know what the network really is and have tuned them out. MSNBC’s ratings have been in the gutter since election night last fall when their viewers realized they had been lied to for months.

Congratulations to Erik Wemple for finally figuring all of this out after so many years. Next thing you know, he’s going to claim that Biden’s mental decline was covered up by the Biden White House and the media.

I’m surprised MSNBC hasn’t put on “The Mao-Tse Tung Hour” from the movie “Network”

I can’t believe that cable systems even carry this garbage channel. Many are paying for it, and supporting it, indirectly for that very reason.

They should just change their advertising theme/logo to,

“ ALL ANTI-TRUMP, ALL HATE, ALL THE TIME”!

fun facts from Grok3:

what are the latest ratings for MSNBC and CNN vs FNC?

The most recent data available on cable news ratings for MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News Channel (FNC) primarily covers April 2025 and early May 2025, with some specific insights into viewership trends during the first 100 days of the Trump administration. Below is a summary based on the latest information:

Primetime Viewership (April 2025)

Fox News Channel (FNC):

Averaged 2.6 million total viewers in primetime, significantly outperforming competitors.
Recorded 3.1 million average viewers during weekday primetime, surpassing ABC (2.9 million) and NBC (2.8 million).

Dominated with 13 of the top 14 highest-rated shows, with The Five being the most-watched program at 4.077 million total viewers and 447,000 in the Adults 25-54 demographic.
However, FNC saw month-to-month declines in total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo, with primetime numbers falling below 3 million total viewers.

MSNBC:

Averaged 1.2 million primetime viewers, placing it second among cable news networks.
Was the only network to post month-to-month growth in total viewers during primetime and total day.
The Rachel Maddow Show was the highest-rated program, averaging 2.079 million total viewers and 177,000 in the Adults 25-54 demo, ranking eighth overall.
Faced potential challenges with Rachel Maddow reverting to a once-a-week schedule starting May 2025, which could impact ratings.

CNN:

Averaged 519,000 total viewers in primetime, a historic low, and 99,000 in the Adults 25-54 demo.
No CNN program ranked among the top 25 cable news shows, and the network was closer in viewership to Newsmax and NewsNation than to FNC or MSNBC.
Erin Burnett Outfront was the most-watched show, with 634,000 total viewers.
Experienced month-to-month declines in both total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo.

Total Day Viewership (April 2025)

FNC: Averaged 1.6 million total day viewers, leading basic cable, compared to MSNBC’s 656,000 and CNN’s 604,000.

MSNBC: Recorded 742,000 total day viewers and 65,000 in the Adults 25-54 demo, reflecting a significant gap with FNC but outperforming CNN.
CNN: Averaged 428,000 total day viewers, down 8% year-over-year, and struggled to compete with FNC and MSNBC.

Specific Event and Day Ratings

May 8, 2025 (Thursday Evening):

FNC had a commanding lead, with The Five (3.565 million viewers), Jesse Watters Primetime (3.204 million), Gutfeld! (2.983 million), and Hannity (2.821 million) topping the ratings. FNC easily beat CNN and MSNBC combined in total viewers.

Trump’s Address to Congress (March 4, 2025):
FNC drew 10.7 million viewers, far ahead of CNN and MSNBC, which each had 1.9 million viewers.
In the Adults 25-54 demo, FNC had over 1 million viewers, compared to CNN’s 585,000 and MSNBC’s 237,000.
Trends and Context (First 100 Days of Trump Administration)

FNC: Saw significant growth, with viewership up 25% compared to the first 100 days of the Biden administration and 8% compared to Trump’s first term. It marked the highest-rated first 100 days in cable news history.

MSNBC: Experienced a post-election ratings drop (down 57% in the Adults 25-54 demo after Election Day) but showed recovery, particularly with events like Trump’s tariff announcement on April 2, 2025. Viewership returned to pre-election levels by May 2025.

CNN: Lost nearly 60% of its audience in both primetime and total day compared to the Biden administration’s first 100 days. Ratings remained low, with no significant recovery.
Year-to-Year Comparison (Q1 2025)

FNC: Up 46% in primetime total viewers (3.01 million) and 63% in the Adults 25-54 demo (380,000).

MSNBC: Down 18% in primetime total viewers (1.02 million) and 18% in the Adults 25-54 demo (96,000).
CNN: Down 6% in primetime total viewers (558,000) and 1% in the Adults 25-54 demo (121,000).

Summary

Fox News Channel continues to dominate cable news ratings, significantly outperforming MSNBC and CNN in both primetime and total day viewership. MSNBC maintains a distant second place, with recent growth driven by key shows like The Rachel Maddow Show, though it faces potential challenges with schedule changes. CNN struggles with historically low ratings, trailing far behind FNC and MSNBC and failing to rank among top programs. These trends reflect broader industry shifts, with FNC capitalizing on a loyal audience and high-profile coverage, while MSNBC and CNN face challenges in retaining viewers post-election.

For the most precise and up-to-date ratings beyond early May 2025, additional data from sources like Nielsen or industry reports would be needed, as the provided information does not cover the period after May 8, 2025.
