Whitey hating on whites was what caused desegregation (there was no segregation to begin with but, you know, libs) in 1972 when the Dallas ISD decided to bus whites to predominately black schools and blacks to predominately white schools. I lived 4 houses from my jr high and high schools but wouldn’t have been allowed to attend my hs until my senior year. Yeah, that makes sooo much sense and with no close friends. My middle class jr high wasn’t boring with nothing ever happening anymore. School was a hell hole where they cut the time between classes from 5 minutes to 3 minutes, locked us in our classrooms and pulled down metal gates in the hall so no one could start fights, go to the restroom at any point during the day or escape a fire. What’s a fire code? Everything that wasn’t nailed down was stolen. If whites and blacks were friends from the year before, the bussed in blacks made sure that wasn’t continuing. I was lost that year with only one friend remaining who happened to be a black kid who was forced to dump me. We didn’t know what race hatred based on skin color was before that. I was attacked twice that first year, once in the stairwell and once a teacher went to another classroom (she wasn’t supposed to ever leave her room) and a black kid decided he wanted a little something-something but it got stopped quickly. At the end of that first year, we were part of the White Flight of 40,000 (43%) white students who put Dallas in their rear view mirror headed to the suburbs and rural podunk areas. 40,000 tells just how bad it was.

We were passing through Dallas many years later so I took us around my old neighbor .... with the doors locked and not stopping. Yes, it was exactly as you’d expect. Recently, I found my house for sale on Zillow and the way they’d decorated it and slapped paint and faux marble on e-v-e-r-y surface, well, yeah, you knew, smh
