His son, Brian Herbert, and a co-author wrote a series of prequels and two sequels. Some of them used Frank Herbert’s original notes and outlines and I found them to be excellent reads. They go into detail on some of the details that Dune and the sequels were silent, on like why didn’t they just build computers to pilot the ships (The Machine Revolution and The Butlerian Jihad), and why was Baron Harkonnen unable to walk and needs a levitator (he raped a Bene Gesserit who used her ability to transmute her body fluids to infect him with an uncurable disease). If you liked Dune you’ll probably like them as well.
