Apropos to nothing, in 2008 I was eating a биг Мак at the Mickey D’s in Yalta, then Ukraine. Across the large town square was an anti-NATO protest which consisted of three old coots playing Soviet martial music very loudly on a boombox. I thought the whole thing was surreal.

I preferred the добл цишбугр myself. Shame Putin closed it all down.

I don't know if I have ever had a double cheeseburger at a McDonald's. I have eaten at McDonald's in Europe a few times. In Italy at least some of them have much better salads than the standard one in the US.

A couple of years ago I had a hamburger, fries, and a beer at a sit-down restaurant in Europe and it cost about $25. But it was in a town that relies a lot on tourism. A sub at a fast-food place was much cheaper.
