My last non-linux system is Win7.

Still got two WinXP boxes running and a Win98 box still getting its job done fine.

I have Ubuntu 24. On a few boxes. 24 has samba issues and vnc problems with mouse.

Still need help on last two.

My Win7 shows no signs of dying. It was built in 2008.

Had Windows 7. Crap. Was glad when Windows 10 came out. Just had to non installed the updates which would screw things up.

Most of my laptops and PCs are Windows 7. Love it, no complaints. I have Windows 10 and one 11 PC (all refurbs) that I use where applications won't run on 7 but really don't like the messy environments of post 7 Windows. I do have Linux and like it very much.

True. I was very happy with that.

Yeah, we all loved 7, were familiar with how to get things done in 7. But, it was prone to having updating break, requiring subtle command line witchery to fix. Over the years there were a ton of servicing stack updates. At this point, getting 7 up to date and current is a time consuming PITA. Win 10 is much better in that regard.

I would have been happy if they stopped at Windows XP.

“I want my Windows 7 to last forever. The best version...by far!”

ditto ... i’m still on W7 ... new releases of H&R Block still install and work fine so far ... User Agent Switcher and Manager Addon still tricks websites like Chase into thinking one has an updated OS and browser ... though Firefox is determined to lose its few remaining users by deliberately refusing to renew the security certificate that allows addons to continue to function ...

“I want my Windows 7 to last forever.”

“Amen! to that!

Windows 7 ran better the day they did us a favor and stopped providing upgrades. Expect that’ll be the same with Windows 10.

I bought two refurbished Windows 10 computers (desktop and laptop) for $200 each to be about to experiment, test, and compare. Windows 7 still is best.

The Edge thing is on both, and I really do hate it.

I still have a W7 Dell laptop.

Mostly to play Battlefield 1942 and W7 chess.

It’s on a docking station with a pair of 34” curved monitors.

I was forced to upgrade to Win11, but I use mods like Simple Classic Theme to maintain a Win7/WinXP interface.
