I’d rather spend a week hanging out on Panama City Beach! 😁

Leisure and amusement are for the elites.

Sports and aggression are for the working class.

My first visit to Disneyland was in 1956, I went a second time in 1972 while in the Army, when I was there the pirates chased the women in the pirate display.

“Disneyland is preparing to nix the familiar scene on its Pirates of the Caribbean ride where captive, tied-up women are auctioned off as brides”

“It now features a gun-wielding female pirate called Redd, who’s managing the peddling of prized possessions previously owned by the townsfolk.
Whereas she used to stand under a banner that read: “Take a wench for a bride”, the redhead is now shown holding a revolver in one hand and a bottle of rum in the other.”

Jack Hibbs, pastor of Calvary Chapel, Chino Hills, was relating his youth once in the LA area. He said in those days, admission was free and you could go in and walk around for nothing.

They had not yet built the Disney World in Orlando when I was a kid, but ...

My family used to spend two weeks every summer on Sanibel (before it was ruined) when I was a child. It was paradise to me. Swimming in the sea, playing in the waves, finding seashells, building my little sand castles, catching fish, watching the dolphins play and the mighty tarpon cruise by. At night, there were ghost crabs, the moon and stars and the lighthouse. I was in Kiddie Heaven.

If, at any point in my childhood, it had already been built and my parents offered to take .e there, I would have said “Are you crazy? Give up a day on Sanibel for that? No way!”

Same here.

There’s the price & then there’s the price. Economic turmoil, international travel issues, September/January visitor drop-off impact what the rat can charge.

Ditto on that, just a different number of kids. I think they’ve gone on their own as adults, but we didn’t take them.

I lived in Orlando for forty years (1966-2006), and of course my family visited Walt Disney World more than once during that time. Usually we visited during the slow months, when discounts were offered to Florida residents, and the crowds weren’t so bad.

But the last time I got to go was in 1996. Now I don’t think my grandchildren will ever be able to visit, because prices are so high. But it may be just as well, with Disney’s “Woke” liberalism. I wouldn’t be surprised if the current version of the Hall of Presidents has Joe Biden talking like Einstein.

The Disney World ticket site says:

1-day adult ticket: $119
3-day adult ticket: $267

These don’t include Magic Kingdom park. I could not find pricing for Magic Kingdom. Maybe someone can dig that up.

You can buy an annual National Park Pass for only $80 and have WAY more fun...and go as often as you want and have as many in the car as you want!

If you are over 62, it gets even better. You pay a one-time fee of $80 for a Senior Lifetime Pass and it’s good for the rest of your life! Just don’t love it like we did. 🥵

There’s no better entertainment bargain anywhere! Friends of our just got back from a Southwest tour and visited six National Parks.

Knoebels is free to park. Free to enter. Pay for the rides you or your kids want to ride and no more. Food is 1/3rd the price of Disney and twice as good as well.

They seemingly didn’t even get any real food? Just ice cream, pretzels, Coke and booze. Did they bring their own lunch (is that allowed?) or did they not count that because they would have had to eat food anyway? Or just junk food all day?

I recall biggest best rides required an “E” ticket out of the paper ticket book for entry. Probably still do.

My brother takes his family of four to Disney every two years. The prices are insane and I used to try to argue with him about how much more bang for the buck he’d get going somewhere else. But he never listened. I’ve learned to just bite my tongue when he or my sister-in-law complain about the prices or poor mouth that they can’t afford other things after the trip.

“These don’t include Magic Kingdom park.”

The one day / one park for $119 includes Magic Kingdom

“Heaven forbid they’re not constantly eating lol,” scoffed one naysayer. “Could have eliminated most of those meals with intermittent fasting or just eating in the car on the way there.”

That comment is clearly from someone who has never had small children.
