If I knew how to post my HD FLSTN 94’ Nostalgia (Cowglide) I would. I got an antique tag for it this year. $6 and it’s a forever tag with no yearly license fee.

Nice. I’ve ridden my Honda 9,000 miles over the last 5 summers. I bought it 5 years ago today as my COVID “bugout” bike. I used my $1200 Trump COVID check to pay for 2/3 of it. 2025 will be my 6th MI summer with it and I’m hoping to add another 2,000 miles to the odometer. I’m rolling it out this weekend...Yeee-HAAH!

Pic of the XR250L shown in my previous post is not my bike. I have a ‘93, same model but no knowledge of how to post pics to FR out of my computer’s C/ drive.

I also looked at the Yamaha SR400. I was briefly tempted. But I wanted a little more grunt. I put 14,000 on the Zuke and loved it. Jetted the carb and ditched the stock exhaust and CAT. Noticeable improvement in the grunt. By then I wanted a little more weight and power and when I sat on the Scout, that did it. I have no interest in anything larger, the Scout is a very quick bike. My goal is 100K on the Scout. 40K to go.

Yeah, after having the BSA (memories of kick starting that thing have never faded), I knew electric start was non negotiable LOL

Buddy has a 2015 VRod. He’s a cruiser guy (old like me) and not really enjoying it.

That GTOT stop is still on my list to get this year.

Have you signed up for Option B (the ROT stops)?

Ahh--Sorry about that.

The Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas is a rally that's been held since 2020. Make enough stops (out of 50 possible), and you get a patch.

It runs from March 1st to November 15th every year.

That tiny Bucc'ees is on the Tour this year.

I had the BX version of the BSA Victor 500. The compression ratio was about 11.5:1. You had to pump the carb and very carefully use the compression release to kick that beast to life. A mis-timed kick could offer a broken leg or a launch over the handlebars. It was a very fine dirt bike that allowed me to do things I never should have attempted and live to tell about it. I sold it right after I got married in June 1978. I had nowhere to store it at my condo and no means to transport it to an area for riding. My parents home was 2 blocks from wide open canyon for riding, so storage and transport was not a problem. The condo was 4 miles from the nearest area where I could legally ride the "dirt only" bike.

I tend to ride alone. Better for me, better for others. I’ll go down and ride Lime Creek Road when the ROT Rally is going on just to see bikes/girls but that’s as close as I get. Did Sturgis in 2021 with a group of Army buddies. We were there a week and left on day one of the Rally.

I tend to ride alone.

That's great. The Grand Tour doesn't require you to ride with anyone--I described it as a rally because it's not a race. Closer to a scavenger hunt, really. You get a list of 50 stops around the state, and you ride to each stop (in any order you want), take a picture, and send it in.

It's an awesome way to see places you've never even heard about--even if you've spent your whole life in Texas.

My first "big" bike was the 1995 Shadow A.C.E.

I loved that bike.
