It’s only regional but the Yankees’ WPIX-11 theme song was absolutely unforgettable. It made you feel like you were about to watch the grandest spectacle on Earth!

Wow! I hadn’t even thought of that tune in many decades. It was awesome!

Thanks!

The NFL Films soundtrack combined with the slow-motion and close-up videos, and the Voice of God John Facenda narrating made those productions some of the most compelling and mesmerizing sports broadcasts ever.

I was never a Raider fan but if the “Autumn Wind” doesn’t send chills up your spine and get you fired up to watch football, I don’t know what will.

John Facenda had the most authoritative voice ever. Really on-brand.

And yes, the entire soundtrack was great. Often sounding like a combination of a cowboy movie, a military march, and a religious hymn.

Harry Kalas, who replaced Facenda, was good too.

The NFL owes a lot of their modern-day popularity to NFL Films. Before the 1970s, it was still considered second to college football.

Yup, that’s why it was no big deal to air the first AFL-NFL Championship Game on two networks, and neither thought it was a big enough deal to bother keeping a color video tape of the game.

The writing is good on the one you posted. The music is good. The computer graphic intro is not good, but I am look at it through a 2025 lens. It probably took forever to make with the limited computing power back then.

“We Rise With Our Dreams”.
The closing song from ESPN’s Ski World in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Sung by John Jarvis, but no recording exists now unless you find an old Ski World video and go to the closing credits.

Man can’t recall

when he first learned to fall

or the time

when he first learned to climb.

But the dream is the thing

both his anchor and wing

it’s his soul

and the flame in his eye.

Oh the wisdom is reaching

far beyond what you see

and the triumph is seeking

all the best you can be.

So delight in the journey

or the struggle it seems

for the spirit is learning

that we rise with our dreams.

Man is the sum

of the living he’s done

and the choices

he’s made in his time.

To the left or the right

through the dark or the light

given earth

how he yearns for the sky.

Oh the wisdom is reaching

far beyond what you see

and the triumph is seeking

all the best you can be.

So delight in the journey

or the struggle it seems

for the spirit is learning

that we rise with our dreams.

That takes me back to when “Breakfast At Wimbledon” was must see TV, and getting up early to watch the Finals.

Haven’t watched Tennis in years.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a four-point shot. The line could arc out and touch the half-court line.

I like George Carlin’s idea, it’s a 25-point shot if you bounce the ball off of an opponent’s head into the basket.
