I used to play the guitar but broke my wrist, ruptured a tendon, other life events, and quit. I kept the gear (2 Gibsons, a Fender and a Martin, with amps.)
I'm relearning, but from a different tact. I formerly simply learned songs without realizing any principles or theory. Now I'm starting by learning scales. Am pentatonic, for starters.
Question: I know this scale works with songs written in Am, but I also read that the Am pentatonic scale also works in A major. The only difference is the root note.
Am I understanding this correctly?
I’ve seen him with that beauty! I have a Fender Stratocaster (chosen by my son) but I tend to use my acoustics more. I just bought an Epiphone Lark, which I actually like better than my Mini Taylor. And that’s interesting about the open G. He’s a good teacher, and I love his sense of humor!
I’m left-handed and play right-handed. It feels completely natural. I don’t sweat it. I like using my dominant hand for fretting. There are lots of left-handed guitars now, though.
I’m right-handed but play a left-handed saxophone! ๐
