AWESOME Report from the Field! Look at all those Boy Toys! ;)
I love how your PRIDE for your #1 Marine Daughter is always front and center. *HEART*
I miss my Dad SO MUCH! He always called me his, ‘Five-Foot Nothing Tank Commando’ when introducing me to others during my Army days. He was Navy, but he didn’t begrudge me being a Ground Pounder. ;) (I fear and loathe open water!)
Love the Clematis! Pretty sure that’s, ‘Candy Stripe.’ She’s a beauty! Well done, Mrs. Augie! :)
*** I fear and loathe open water!***
Uncanny. I fear and loathe the open water, too.
I love the beach, and swimming, but I was in a precarious situation in the Gulf of America when I was a teenager. We couldn’t see land where we were fishing. I was with my older brother and younger sister.
After a morning of fishing, we saw a storm was rolling in. We tried to get the motors started to head back to shore. We lost both of the engines on the boat. The storm came. It was a little rocky. Ok, it was a lot rocky. It was a storm and all we had was two oars and a rope. Eventually we waved down another boat, which towed us in to shore. I’m not sure how many miles but I think we were about 8-10 from land. I don’t even remember how many hours that all was. It felt like forever. It got cold if you were wearing what I was. (Just a bathing suit and a t-shirt and shorts.)
I was an excellent swimmer through my youth and early adulthood, but nothing could prepare me for that event.
I haven’t been on a boat in the ocean or gulf since then. Zero desire. Intercoastal waterways, yes. Open water, no. Don’t try to get me on a fancy ocean cruise. It’s never gonna happen. Maybe a river cruise if I can see the shore. If I can see the shore, I think in my head maybe I’m still strong enough that I could make it there. LOL.
Unless I’ve been drugged, I’m never going to willingly go on the open water again.
