U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin confirmed that U-2 Dragon Lady spy planes are being used for surveillance missions along the U.S.-Mexico border. These aircraft, along with RC-135V/W Rivet Joint planes and drones, support efforts to monitor and combat illegal activities such as drug trafficking and cartel operations. The U-2, equipped with advanced sensors, offers high-altitude, real-time intelligence. This comes as the U.S. military expands its border security efforts, including the activation of Joint Task Force-Southern Border. Despite ongoing plans to retire the U-2 fleet, it continues to play a crucial role in these operations.
Thanks for the info bitt.
What I found ‘odd’ about this U2 is (1) it is owned/operated by Goddard Space, a military \contractor\ and (2) it didn’t show-up with the MILITARY filter on...it did appear with all the civilian flights.
TWW: this is a modern version of that Gary Powers U2. Photo in next post. Note the NASA on the tail and the Goddard Space decal on the fuselage of the engine intake.
