On behalf of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, we are very saddened to announce the passing of the Center’s founder, David Horowitz. After a lengthy battle with cancer, David passed yesterday at the age of 86.
The Freedom Center’s founder and guiding force was a relentless conservative warrior who survived a previous brush with death (chronicled in his book Mortality and Faith), confrontations with the Black Panthers, campus radicals, government investigations, death threats, and hate campaigns, some led by his former friends and allies, without ever considering giving up or letting up. Nothing short of the end that comes for us all could silence his voice. He continued writing, working, and steering the Center to the very last; his final article, “The Biggest Lie of All,” appeared earlier this month.
Although he was a giant in the conservative liberty movement for over 40 years, David was raised a Marxist and was one of the leading intellectuals of the New Left movement at Berkeley in the 1960’s. But David, along with his writing partner and Freedom Center co-founder Peter Collier, eventually had a political epiphany and joined the side of freedom in the early 1980‘s. They committed the second half of their lives and work warning Americans of the dangers of the Progressives whose intellectual roots and totalitarian aims they understood better than many Leftists themselves.

He was really fearless. RIP David Horowitz.
Yup.
May he Rest In Peace.
“The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.”
I quote that line all the time. It's so important and it comes up every day! For example when the commies pretend to care about "due process."
That book is a REAL eye opener and a MUST read for EVERYONE!
I also told you about FAMILY CIRCLE, by Susan Braudy, which fills in even MORE COMMIE/RED DIAPER BABY info.
The thing is, I was reading about AND the the stuff that David Horowitz said and DID, back in 1967/'68 onward, so at that time I HATED his guts! So I actually bought and read his first book as a sort of KNOW THINE ENEMY. Boy was I shocked, reading that book! LOL
So is FAMILY CIRCLE; read THAT book!
A great leader for Conservatives and Constitutionalists.
His books opened many eyes.
Got very curious about what the heck could be inside so I bought it.
I agree....a great loss.
“”eventually had a political epiphany and joined the side of freedom in the early 1980‘s.””
His story from being raised Marxist to what he became was good for him and great for the rest of us!
He went into the hospital. Because he was ill.
And then he went home. And was not out and about much. Because he was ill.
Inside every progressive is a totalitarian wanting to get out—David Horowitz. RIP David. You will be missed.
RIP.
Yes, and hard to put down. He could write.
Rest in peace, David Horowitz.
His book helped me not feel so alone. I peripherally knew some of the people he mentioned.
As radical as he was, he came around to the truth and became one of Conservatism's greatest allies.
RIP good man. And thank you for the inspiration.
I watched the news, read many different papers, INCLUDING the EVO ( THE EAST VILLAGE OTHER, which was the FAAAAR LEFTY version of THE VILLAGE VOICE ), and even kept an "ENEMIES LIST" of those who took out double page ads in the Sunday N.Y. Times. And yes, I still have the lists.
I've ALWAYS, since childhood, been a RABID anti-Commie.
Very sad news...
More than sad........what a loss. Glad he was in my time. Wonderful and intelligent man.......RIP Sir
Ping!
I read his book Radical Son many years ago and could tell how painful that had to be for him to write. He was born and raised as a Communist by his parents who were both dedicated, hard core believers in Stalin and the Communist lies. As a child, he protested on the streets of New York City for every Commie cause that came along. In college, he organized fellow commies in all types of subversion. After college, he was a major spokesman for the Black Panthers.
But then, he saw the light. Not some great epifiny, but in a more nifty gritty way. A fellow commie who was keeping books for the Black Panthers realized that these guys weren’t in it for the ideology. The we’re doing it for the cash. And when this woman threatened to expose them, they killed her.. So much for revolutionary hero’s. That forced Horowitz to examin his own philosophy, and he found it to be a farce. Everything he was raised to believe by his parents, who he dearly loved, was a pack of lies and deceit. That had to be painful, but he did it and went on to warn others not to be deceived.
RIP to David Horowitz. You made a difference.
THE EAST VILLAGE OTHER
What a name from the past!
Totally unreadable.
So sad to hear that.
Rest in peace.
