"Wouldn’t have a GM made vehicle if you gave it to me."

Not since the 50's anyway.

My bought new 1975 Suburban was made with ungalvanized Japanese steel and turned into a rust bucket like this within a couple of years:

My younger brother worked for GM in the Van Nuys assembly plant is the late 60s and he used to tell funny stories about how they would deliberately drop a car on the assembly line to give everyone a break to smoke dope. He also told me that they would hang a wrench by a wire within a car's door to give the car a hard-to-find rattle. Fun stuff.

I owned one GM car - a new '78 Corvette. It had stray screws on top of the engine, the rubber seal on the hood came off when I first opened the hood, the expensive glass removable roof sections spontaneously cracked, and when I got a flat, the GM dealer had machine the wheel off the hub to remove it.

GM.
