It did not. It led to the War of 1812. Isolationism didn't work.
Google farm tools 1820, 1830 and look at where we were. Industrialization was a long time coming.

So the headline is wrong The Embargo Act actually helped the economy. No, that is not how a sound verdict is arrived at, any more than it would be by judging based upon one negative aspect of the embargo.
