In Afghanistan American soldiers were in close proximity to their Afghan “allies” , heard the screams of young boys who were being raped by these allies” and were odered not to intervene. Begs the question: What the hell were we doing there after Bin Laden was killed. BTW he was in Pakistan in “militery city” controlled by our “Pakistani” allies while brave young Americans were fighting a dying in Afghanistan trying to find him. What a cruel joke and needless sacrifices..

Scholars like Ingeborg Baldauf, who conducted fieldwork in northern Afghanistan in the 1970s, suggest that bacha bazi or similar practices were noted as early as the 9th–10th centuries in the region of modern-day northern Afghanistan, particularly around Mazar-i-Sharif. This area was known in the Islamic world as a source of boys for such practices.

It may have had its origins in Greek pederastry. Many cities in Afghanistan were established during the Macedonian conquest in 300 BC, like Kandahar which was founded as Alexandria by, yes Alexander the great.

I would also note that the Taliban banned it in the 1990s, citing its incompatibility with Sharia law.
