We had paint that killed bacteria and germs for many centuries.

It was LEAD paint.........

That's the story for the Egyptian scheme for keeping the Hebrews in Egypt, that they sunk the bones of Joseph deep in deNile, in a LEAD coffin.

The pictures that this stuff paints!

I don't have time to post the etyms, but off-hand, the Latin word for lead involves its gray color (cf. a "plume" of smoke, or plume/feathers, or a plumb line), and that's how a dove is a paloma wanderwort that links to columbae to/ from the Greek kolumba "dove" word for a diver.

You gotta dive deep.

It was LEAD paint..........Worked really great. Just don’t eat it. Only Democrats do that.....

I don’t doubt that it is true, but I have never read that.

Lead in paint has many advantages like durability, water resistance, quick drying, staying colorful longer etc. But one aspect of lead that is often overlooked is it kills bacteria, and especially the kinds of bacteria that destroys wood.

You can see it on some old homes in the South where there is algae growth on the roof and outside wall, usually on teh shaded parts.

They used lead flashing around the chimneys and sewer vent pipes, and wherever the drainage from the rain flowed down past these lead objects there is no algae at all, none...........
