Good to know. Wont be shopping anywhere this is required.

A Tennessee woman has been banned from every Walmart in the country after an epic shoplifting spree.
Ashley Cross, 37, cannot enter any of the grocery giant’s 4,600 stores after being caught running a bar code scam.
We’ve been using this for about five years now. Nothing new.
When they deploy in San Francisco will the first 950$ be free.
I guess the cost of RFID chips have fallen low enough to do this.
I’ve been a member of Sam’s Club since it was Pace Membership Warehouse. Walmart bought them in 1993.
Looks like this will be my last year.
Can an item be un-scanned once scanned? What if you scan it and it’s more than you want to pay or the wrong price? Does it display the price and a running total?
Do you get to bag/box the items?
There are good people who - through no fault of their own - can find no better job than that of a checkout clerk.
I will stand in line for one of those folks for an hour before going to a self-serve line. And if all the lines are self-serve, I will shop elsewhere.
As with most things, your mileage may vary.
This is the mode of operation at some https://zabka.pl convenience stores but that is in a higher trust society.
No thank you. Big Brother monitoring your shopping. Might as well buy on line which is one thing the retailers would like.
That would be a 'nope' from me. Most apps are just spyware with the functionality just a bait to get folks hooked. If you look at the permissions, there are always tracking functions enabled that they don't really need to deliver what is needed.
Great. More apps. And scanning. And cameras.
Shoulda just trialed it to see how folks like it.
Here in Kali if you buy booze you have to go to a real live checker. Problem solved ;-)
Someone will say it’s racist.
Use this all the time, it hands down beats waiting in line behind Cletus and Velveeta and their rabble of F trophies while they have to unload, let the checker who barely speaks English struggles with every item or worse has to price.check it. You could be in line for half an hour.
Or you just walk around the store with your pocket supercomputer put things in the cart scan the barcode and move on when you want to leave you swipe the pay now and it charges your card on file or if you have Sams cash back from a Sam’s MasterCard I allows you to use that. You then just walk out the door through the scan and go lanes the AI makes sure you are not a Fing thief which in most cultures previously deserved death and it should still be that way.
It’s only boomers with on a foot out the grave that either cannot or will not embrace the 21st century and the convenience of it. Do you really think that every purchase is not scanned and associated with a person every time and every transaction with a credit card. Your membership tracks you even if you use cash as you must scan the membership number BEFORE paying out even if using cash. Get over it no one cares what senior citizens are buying for dinner other than the marketing companies who want more out of your wallet.
They wasted their money on this att least where i am concerned
They should just send an undercover agent over to Costco to see how they manage heavy checkout traffic, because Costco's system is great.
We don’t have Costco in my neck of the woods. And I don’t use third party apps on my iPhone.
You have a cart with $300 worth of loose items and you take them to the car?
It is interesting to watch stores end bagging groceries for the customers.
No, not this kid. This is a slicker way to have individual purchases associated with the buyer. If one uses cash at a normal checkout station, there is no way to digitally know what anyone buys.
Cell phones are one big surveillance trap. They allow monitoring of ones travels, communications and any pictures taken. With this crap individual purchases can be monitored in real time.
