Wannabe GI Jane sues Navy after her dream of becoming first female SEAL comes to a crashing end over age

A wannabe-G.I. Jane’s dream of becoming the first female Navy S.E.A.L. ended because military recruiters delayed her application so long that she aged out, she claimed in a lawsuit.

The US Navy officials failed to advance Amanda S. Reynolds’ application, then told her in the fall that she would no longer qualify for Naval Officer Training Command in Newport, RI, because she’d be over the age limit of 42 by the time she graduated, according to court papers.

“The opportunity . . . was kind of taken away from me. I would like that to be reinstated,” Reynolds, 41, told The Post. “I would just like the outcome to be determined by the merits instead of by some sort of technicality.

The wash out rate varies to a degree depending on if they need graduates or not, some would pass at times but are washed out when there aren’t openings.

“who might impress upon you these shared values in the very same way,” she wrote.”

What shared values? Fraud and grift?

My friend’s nephew didn’t make it as a Seal and he’s a strong young guy. While training he would run 100 yards carrying two 50 pound weights. He didn’t make it.

You don’t think she’d ring the bell the first day?

--- "... drop her into the next class at Coronado. See how long she lasts. I'd put $50 on less than a week."

That's just plain mean-spritied. < s a r c >

Since she's in NYC, at first we can make it a shorter trip. OCS at Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island.

After that the minimum of 62 weeks of various forms of SEAL training. After Coronado, El Centro should be lovely this time of year....

I’m sure they could use her at Diego Garcia.

Thanks for the entertaining clips — plural — as I sampled a coupled of them. So much bull pucky piled high.

“the special forces “kind of jibed with my physical pursuits.”

That statement alone tells me how completely ignorant she is as to what all is involved with Seal training.

She’ll never know what a favor the Navy did her.

She's a bit long in the tooth to be a Navy Seal, anyway.

Too bad the same crowd that forced the Army to give Ranger tabs to older women is gone from the White House now. Based on merit, not one of these women in Ranger or SEAL training would have the slightest chance of success.

She must be really good if the Navy used her as an enlistment number in 2018 and then dropped her from sight after that.

A number of years ago a close friend's son wanted to enlist in, I think, the special forces.

The kid worked his butt off all summer to get in shape. Swimming, running and long hikes with a loaded back pak.

When he finally went in for his physical, he was rejected because they discovered that he had lasik surgery to correct his eyesight.

The NAVY has the most particular selection process for non ROTC/Academy officers than any other service. It happens. But they are really picky.

At 42 they have tons of candidates from which to choose. They will cut you for the smallest things.

SEAL training is even MORE picky. She would have had to be in the fleet for three years before getting into BUDS. At 45? That’s not going to happen.
