I can kind of understand the connection of eggs to Easter because an egg looks dead until the chick breaks out of the shell. (Of course that only happens with fertilized eggs which are kept at the right temperature while the embryo inside is developing.)

But where did the Easter bunny come from?

Pagan fertility rituals. Same as the eggs. Early Christianity co-oped a lot of stuff from near by pagans for their holidays. Decorated pine trees too.
