President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the U.S. would sign a new minerals deal next Thursday, in an apparent reference to talks with Ukraine.

There’s plenty of rare earth minerals in America but it’s good to have much more before China sucks it up. I’m not sure how much Zelensky land has and how much is on actual Russia controlled land.
Deal’s done. Now $100B, not $300B.
Zelinsky needs to go.
Change his mind? Where did you see that Zelenskyy said he would sign Thursday? You haven’t.
I tend to agree with you...but I’m sure Trump has another angle...which will come out after a cease fire.
This mineral deal is a red herring, a distraction. I wish Trump had never taken Zelensky’s bait on it. According to what I have read (and posted links to sources here on FR in the past), these rare earth mineral reserves are either unproven (may not even exist) in some cases, or are not commercially viable in other cases. Yeah, there’s that one scandium deposit that can and is being mined, but big whoop.
How crappy it is that we must be skeptical of this and anything requiring Zelensky to do anything?
I understand you. With Zelenskyy Putin can’t win, so his leaving would help Putin...
And you think no one else understands that? You are a dreamer...
I think this is being done at the direction of State Street, Fidelity, and Blackrock. It’s a great chance for them to cash in. And it will create an entire new generation of Manafort, Romney‘s, Kerry, Pelosi, Hunter Biden etc. There will be an entire generation of American political connected corrupticrats created.
This deal is a bad bad idea.
How are they going to cash in if these supposed rare earth mineral deposits either don’t exist at all or are not commercially viable?
Head of the snake. Or in this case the puppet of the snakes.
Putin doesnt have to do jack. Holds all the cards and with all this back and fort, it serves his intentions.
Trump meanwhile, is trying to satisfy all around. He needs to back up and assess past negotistions and who is actually talking respectfully.
The Russians are in the drivers seat. The longer negotiations go on, the more they gain on the ground.
The Ukrainians have offered nothing..in effect. They have played the opposite of a negotiator.
By the time Ukraine loses the war all the minerals will be on Russian property. Putin has all the cards.
And Ukraine like most of the Eastern European states had a very high opinions of the US, at least Trump. In any case, calling it a "hostile" power is simply nonsense.
Three and a half years is a long time to play if Russia has all the cards. LOL
Time is of no consequence for the Russians, it is for the US however.
When they are losing 900 - 1500 men a day, it is a concern. Putin isn't Stalin and can't rustle up division after division.
And Trump trusts this inveterate little lying creep to keep his end of the bargain because...
Because they are not. You read too much propaganda.
