A four-acre estate with views of the Potomac River, said to be on the site of what had once been George Washington’s hunting lodge, is on the market for $9.95 million.

Listed by Washington Fine Properties, “Clarens Estate,” at 318 North Quaker Lane, has a history that includes serving as a Civil War hospital and a school. The listing says the home was once the residence of James Murray Mason, a U.S. Senator and grandson of founding father George Mason.

The 10,000-square-foot main home has seven bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths, original hardwood floors, nine fireplaces, hand-painted wallpaper in the dining room, and a primary suite with an 1806 Irish mantle.

Four preserved outbuildings include a carriage house, potting shed, icehouse and well house. There is also a heated pool and a pool house with a fireplace and full kitchen.

I’d get it, but I can’t afford the Betsy Ross flags.

Did George Washington also take a dip in the pool?

Or just throw a silver dollar across it?

Or was that where Washington was a lifeguard and fought Corn Pop?

Honestly that’s a better deal (comparatively) than you see these days. A cheaply constructed Mcmansion made of mostly 2x4s, drywall, particle board and plastic siding on 1/4 of an acre for $750,000. Probably won’t last a century.

At least you are getting quality, history, land and location there.

Sure I can’t afford it…😂

Views of the Potomac from N Quaker Lane? Right, more like views of Cameron Run, a storm runoff drainage ditch.

AOC probably thinks “I’ve only been here a few years and they already named a city after me!”

I went to school who lived in a house like that:

—Alexandria mansion

—On the Potomac

—Land as far as the eye could see

His family let me visit. I was warned by my friend never to ask his father what he did for a living....

P.S. The son is still in the family “business”. They are some kind of CIA or other similar agency front—privately held international trading company but the paper trail is very thin. They also owned land that by an amazing coincidence ended up with intelligence agency operations built on it.

Lol.

William Colby’s body washed up on shore in a different section of the Potomac (Maryland side)—but it was a reminder to all who live on the river that the Deep State can strike without warning.
