I personally know of two people who died of dementia, who were widowed for many years and got it when they were in their late 80s.
OTOH, I also know of 2 people who have it now, and are married.
Studies can be made to say ANYTHING!
Studies are generally only taking a snippet of information with small areas of research which are generally supposed to be as well circumscribed as possible
To make sweeping generalization or extrapolation of small bits of data is the job of our sensationalistic money driven media. Need those mortgage paying eyeballs to view the “reports”
The people I’ve known developed the problem after a spouse died.
And an anecdotal sample size of 1 is so definitive.
What happened to “married men live longer”?
Does that mean the men live long enough to get dementia?
Harvard study said 69 months longer if married.
CDC study said 2 years longer.
National Library of Medicine said 2.2 to 2.4 years longer.
First two researchers thought the women may have influenced them to eat healthy and not smoke, plus added a purpose to life.
Studies can be made to say ANYTHING!..
Depends on who paid for the study.
